Sidsel J. Høivik – Decorative Crochet Borders

The Norwegian Sidsel J. Høivik is a well-known designer with a unique style. Her ‘kofte’ designs (vest/knitted jacket) in Fair Isle and with rich embroideries are very popular.

In this workshop you will learn how to use fairly simple crochet stitches to decorate knitted clothing, not only with borders but also with checkered or striped patterns.
You will learn how to use ridges of reverse stitches as a starting point for different decorative edges such as chain stitches, reverse single crochet stitches, “edging” edges, “spiral” fringes of chain stitches, etc.

Sidsel also shows how you can decorate rows of holes with borders.

This is a workshop that shows how you can further enhance your knitting with various simple techniques and some imagination. Unlike the homework, no handout is given.
