Roositud is the Estonian technique of colorful knitting, which is very similar to an ‘embroidered’ design. The technique is relatively easy and gives a folkloristic and colorful result. In Estonia people could ‘read’ the life of someone based on these motives and patterns and fixed symbolism.
In this workshop you will learn the Roositud technique with a special design and a decorative motif. You finish the knitting with a decorative edge with multiple colors. You will go home with a graceful wrist warmer / bracelet.
You have to be able to knit on a circular needle (thickness 1,5 – 3mm), read a pattern and knit.
On this page you can read more about Rikka Horn.
