Het leukste event voor breien en haken

Evelien Verkerk

Historical

I’ve been knitting almost all my life. As a child in the early 1960s, I was already fascinated when I saw my mother and grandmother knitting and wanted to try it myself. From being about 12 years old, I knitted my own sweaters and sometimes also for others. I liked it and found it nice to improve my technique and update new things.

From 1998 to 2014 I worked for a historical museum with knitting work in the collection. These mostly 19th century workpieces, often made very small, became a source of inspiration. I consider it a great privilege to be able to see everything close up.
Now I want to share my experiences in the knitted heritage and this lifelong hobby with others. I try to look at various museums and study old knittingbooks. From the knowledge I collect, I want to share old patterns, design new patterns, and occasionally publish them.
