Emma Varnam

Amigurumi

Emma learnt how to knit as a child, and throughout adolescence was happiest sewing, making and creating little projects in her spare time. She trained as an art curator and museum manager, and now is a senior manager within local government.

Throughout her twenties she knitted garments for friends and poor unsuspecting godchildren, but it was only when she had her own son, that she started designing. Inspired by the imagination of children, she likes to make garments and toys which bring a smile. In the past ten years her design work has grown and not only has she written a number of popular crochet books, she has also worked closely with yarn companies and retailers to design exclusive contemporary patterns. She has had a number of successful collaborations with the celebrated knitwear designer, Debbie Bliss.

Emma regularly shares her design inspiration and thought processes through her award winning knitting and crochet blog. ‘My blog is about capturing those little moments of creative magic and taking joy in the small things in life.’

Emma is part of the Blogstars of Stylecraft. Besides that she is a renowned designer of crochet patterns and author of pattern books.
You can find her on Facebook, Instagram and Ravelry.
