Coronavirus
As event company Second Events, organiser of the Dutch Knitting Festival, we are closely following all the developments regarding the coronavirus (COVID-19). Our office is monitoring the reports from specialised organisations and partners, such as the RIVM (National Institute for Public Health and the Environment) and the GGD (Municipal Health Service), in order to be able to take measures and avoid any risks. To this end, we are following the guidelines of the RIVM and the GGD. The well-being and safety of guests, visitors, vendors and employees are our top priority.
This afternoon, Thursday March 12, 2020, it has been announced that meetings with more than 100 people / participants will be prohibited.
This means that the Breidagen in Groningen will definitely not take place on the planned date of 27 & 28 March 2020.
In consultation with the Suikerfabriek Groningen we have reached a new date: 29 & 30 May 2020.
We hope that by this time events will be possible again and the threat of the coronavirus will be gone. Also we keep a close eye on all advice and developments. When this ‘fall-back’ date becomes final, we will communicate this via our website and our social media channels.
Visitors:
If you have already bought tickets for admission and / or workshops, they will remain valid for the fair at the end of May. We try to ‘copy’ the workshop program to the new date, insofar as this is possible and if lecturers are then also available. You understand that we have heard very recently that the fair cannot take place and we will inform everyone about this today (visitors with e-tickets). If you are unable to come to Groningen on the new date, we will of course refund the tickets.
Festival Amsterdam:
The future edition of the Dutch Knitting Festival in Amsterdam will continue as planned for the time being. It is not yet known whether we will let it continue, whether it will be possible to continue or whether it should also be canceled in the short term. We hope to be able to give a definite answer about this next week. Of course, no one can predict how the coronavirus will progress, but we observe all measures and restrictions. Should Amsterdam continue, we will take extra measures, including extra cleaning rounds and proper ventilation of the halls and spaces. We are in close consultation with both event locations about this.
Organisers, visitors and employees are advised to follow the general hygiene rules strictly. The regulations below apply to all viruses that can cause flu and colds.
- Wash your hands regularly, hand disinfectants are available;
- Cough and sneeze on the inside of your elbow;
- Use paper tissues;
- Avoid contact with people with respiratory problems;
- Greet each other verbally.
Actual information from the RIVM and answers on your questions about the coronavirus you can find here (Dutch).
