Sarah Shrimpton (Annaboo’s House)

Supersize Crochet

‘I first started to crochet just before Christmas 2010. We had relocated to Sussex the year before and I had given up my career in teaching to be a full-time mum. I was in desperate need to keep my brain active and wanted to learn a new skill. I decided that crochet was going to tick these boxes for me and armed myself with a few good books and taught myself.

I then decided that I would like to create a blog to record my progress and now it’s become a place where I share ideas, tutorials and patterns. I also love to use Instagram and find it the most amazing place to connect with so many inspiring and creative people.

2015 was a rather hectic year for me as I had two books published. I’m the proud author of ‘Beginner’s Guide to Crochet’ and ‘Extreme Crochet with Chunky Yarn’ and I have appeared on a few episodes of Craft Daily TV!

I’ve also had great fun creating a YouTube channel to demonstrate some crochet techniques and patterns. Today, life is pretty busy. I’m a Primary School teacher three days a week and a freelance crochet designer the rest of the time.
I design patterns for magazines, yarn manufacturers and my own little Etsy shop!’
